The Pre-congress, «Kerman Art in Safavid era» Went Underway: Isfahan School Has Also been Embodied in Kerman ,

14th pre-congress of "Kerman Art in Safavid era" was held on November 28 at Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman.

As reported by the Public Relations of the Academy of Arts, the ceremony kicked off at 10.30 a.m. at the public hall of Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman. At first, the chairman of Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman, Dr. Amiri Khorasani greeted the attendants and presented a brief history of the university: "Everybody knows that in our history, Safavid era is a unique age. It's possible to say that the interaction of politics and religion was formed in Safavid era for the first time and was followed in Afsharieh and Zandieh eras," he said.

Indicating to the historical and cultural changes in Safavid era, Dr. Khorasani added, "When political centrality was made up in Isfahan, the cities, adjacent regions and the whole country underwent several changes. One of these regions was the city and province of Kerman. Today Kerman city is one of the three main centers of tourist attraction in the country and as being said by the experts, generally the historical and cultural works and heritages of Kerman have superseded those in more than the other provinces."

The chairman of Shahid Bahonar University in Kerman concluded: "The influences of Isfahan school on the city of Kerman are evident, therefore we hold such a session to define the status of Kerman city in Isfahan school. We hope that through the raised questions, the unknown and hidden aspects of Kerman history and art will be revealed to the scholars and enthusiast young people."

Following the session, the Secretary of the Academy of Arts, Dr. Bahman Namvar Motlaq referred to the history and antiquity of Kerman: "The first evidences of the civilization in Iran plateau has been discovered in this province and Jiroft city. As a province which has been the intersection of various civilizations, Kerman has played a remarkable role in the constitution of Iranian culture," he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Namvar Motlaq indicated to the contribution of Isfahan School in the cultural formation of other historical cities and followed: "I should say that in an artistic research, all works are collective and this point has been proved, even in poetry which is supposed to be the creation of an individual person who works in solitude. We are never alone and no work can be attributed to a single person. We live and work in a group and society, even though we presume ourselves as individual and solitary, we are inheritors of a society which has bequeathed us with several pre-texts. Nowadays the concept of inter-textuallity has been affirmed that our activities have also been influenced by the inheritances left for us by our predecessors."

Having said that, the secretary of the Academy of Arts also pointed out that by Isfahan School, we mean the consideration of historical, cultural and artistic works from 1000 A. H. to 1135 when Isfahan was the capital of Iran. When we speak of Isfahan School, we don't mean that the school is entirely constituted by Isfahanis.

Isfahan School is the combination of works done by individuals, cities and schools which formerly, at those times and even as some scholars believe, after those times contributed to its formation.

Elaborating more on the Isfahan School, Dr. Bahman Namvar Motlaq said: "The Academy of Arts tries to rewrite and recognize the unwritten, less written or even badly written culture and art history. If the friends take a look at the historical books, they will realize that there's a prejudice against we Iranians and the people of the East and perhaps even we should not have any complaint. we must start to work on history ourselves, we must write and research. We began to work on Isfahan School, we simultaneously tried to do researches on various school and in this line we observed the relation and mutual influences of Herat, Tabriz, Qazvin and Mashhad schools through several congresses.

The session went on until 5 p.m., meanwhile several scholars and masters, including Dr. Mazaheri, Dr. Fath-Ali Baigi, Dr. Mir-Hashem Mohades, Dr. Shams-e Din Najmi, Ali-Reza Hashemi-Nezhad, Mahdi Maki-Nezhad, Fariba Kermani, Mohsen Keshavarz, Hassan Salajeqe and Hanyeh Nikkhah presented their own views and researches.
