In
cooperation

Isfahan
Administration
of
Ministry
of
Culture
and
Islamic
Guidance,
the
Academy
of Arts
and the
Cultural-Amusement
Organization
of
Isfahan,
the
second
pre-congress
of
Isfahan
School
Congress
entitled,
“Textiles
in
Safavid
Period”
was held
at the
public
hall of
Isfahan
Central
Library
on
Sunday,
September4.

Reported
by the
public
relations
of the
Academy
of Arts,
the
one-day
pre-congress
was a
prelude
for the
Grand
Conference
of
Isfahan
School
which
will be
underway
both in
Isfahan
and
Tehran
in the
next
December.
The
pre-congress
was held
in the
presence
of the
General
Manager
of
Isfahan
Administration
of
Ministry
of
Culture
and
Islamic
Guidance,
Seyed
Ali-Reza
Husseini;
Isfahan’s
Province
Governor,
Bakhtiari;
the
Secretary
of the
Academy
of Arts,
Dr.
Bahman
Namvar
Motlaq;
the
Secretary
of
Scientific
Department
of
pre-congress
of
Isfahan
School
Handicraft
Arts,
Dr.
Hussein
Yavari;
Eng
Mahmoud
Eftekhari;
Eng
Khalil
Doroudchi
and a
number
of
masters
and
artists.
The
first
lecturer
of the
program
was
General
Manager
of
Isfahan
Ministry
of
Culture
and
Islamic
Guidance,
Seyed
Ali-Reza
Husseini.
He
regarded
Isfahan
as a
center
which
prepared
the
ground
for the
emergence
and
development
of art.
He
viewed
the
observation
of our
identity
and
cultural
originality
as the
impetus
behind
the
attention
to the
past and
said:
“We
must
employ
the
inherited
capabilities
of our
predecessors
for the
development
of art
and
presenting
functional
methods
for our
successors.”

The
second
lecturer
of the
pre-congress,
Dr.
Hussein
Yavari
remarked
that
this
program
is
intended
to
review
the
different
branches
of
handicrafts
arts and
the
process
of their
development.
Then,
Isfahan’s
Province
Governor,
Morteza
Bakhtiari
made a
speech.
He
referred
to the
past
glorious
artistic
times
and
said,
“with
an
improved
usage of
our
capabilities
and
natural
endowments,
we must
reach to
a point
which
would be
appraised
by our
successors.
The
Scientific
Secretary
of this
pre-congress,
Eng
Morteza
Bekhradi
indicated
that
industry
is the
most
precious
achievement
of
Iranians
to the
world’s
civilization
and
said:
“the
history
of
Iranian
industry
reveals
the
history
of
humane
culture.”
Following
the
session,
six
pioneer
Isfahani
artists
were
praised.
Then, by
the use
of
screening
pictures,
Badri
Hakimian
accounted
for the
garments
of
Isfahan
in
Safavid
era.
The next
lecturer,
Leon
Minasian
explained
about
the
Armenian
garments
in
Safavid
era.

A
documentary
film
entitled,
The
Aesthetic
of Cloth
was the
next
section
of the
program
which
screened
for the
attendants.
One of
the
other
lecturers
of the
pre-congress,
Khosrow
Ehteshami
accounted
for the
lexicology
of
textiles
in
Safavid
period.
The
subject
of the
speech
by
Khatereh
Karimi
was the
consideration
of
Safavid
garments’
form and
design
through
the
schools
of
painting.
Finally,
Haleh
Helali
another
lecturer
of the
pre-congress
made a
speech
on the
Qalamkar
(painted)
clothes
in
Safavid
era.
