The Press Conference on the Threshold of Isfahan School Conference 

The Cinematheque of Saba Cultural-Artistic Institute played host to the press conference of Isfahan School Grand Conference. The session was held in presence of several executives of the conference on December 5.

As the Public Relations of the Academy of Arts reports, at first the secretary of the Academy of Arts, Dr. Bahman Namvar Motlaq said: "Isfahan School Conference is the most important scholarly work organized by the Academy of Arts since the establishment of the academy. Compared to previous conferences held by the academy, the main feature of this conference lies in its categorized design."

Next Dr. Namvar Motlaq introduced and accounted for various departments of the conference, "The secretaries of scholarly departments of the conference have been introduced for eight departments; music, calligraphy, painting, dramatic arts, handicrafts, wisdom and philosophy, architecture and literature. The departments follow their activities semi-independently and a head office coordinates the operations of all departments," he said.

The secretary of calligraphy department at Isfahan School Conference, maestro Qolam-Hussein Amirkhani commented on the scholarly works in respect to calligraphy: "Isfahan School Conference will introduce one of the prominent schools of calligraphy which has always been followed in our history and will be of great help for us to realize our cultural and artistic values again. For instance, as a great master of calligraphy in Safavid era, Mir-Emad has been appointed as the center of the conference."

"In terms of research and scholarly works, calligraphy has not been observed that much and hadn't find an appropriate status. The calligraphers mostly preferred to spend their life and talent on their artistic career," he added.

A member of scholarly council of the conference, Dr. Hassan Bolkhari accounted for the selection of Isfahan and Isfahan School: "Regarding the development of religious identity in Iran, Safavid era is an absolutely brilliant age which for the first time in Iran led to a political and religious stability. There's a kind of aptitude in Isfahan School of thinking which may be considered as a sort of talent for gathering and ability to constitute a school."



Following the session, the director of the Academy of Arts Press, Ali-Reza Esma'eili explained about the efforts made for publishing the books in line with Isfahan School Conference. "The publications for the conference in proportion with the grandiose of such event have their own characteristics. On the occasion of conference, more than 50 books are printed which cover various artistic and literary fields," he said.

"The key feature of these publications is that they are mostly written and edited by local masters and scholars. Furthermore we have published nearly 10 ancient manuscripts in the field of arts," Esma'eili added.

 



At the end of the session, the general director of Isfahan School Conference, Mohsen Zare'a said: "At these conferences, de-centralization has a particular importance. Various provinces have responded and organized the pre-congresses of Isfahan School Conference very well which resulted to gain a remarkable attention of local an international institutes and organizations.

The opening ceremony of the conference will be underway on December 10-11 in Tehran at Aseman Cultural-Artistic Complex.
