Conference of Isfahan music, during Safavid Period from 1000 to 1135 Lunar Calendar (A. H.)

In eleventh and twelfth century, Isfahan selected as the Capital of Safavid Government and as the kings of this dynasty were patrons of arts who were talented in this field and were supporting artists, this city converted to one of the greatest centres of culture and art in Iran. Especially in music, that period was the time of appearance of distinguished musicians in Isfahan, and stabilizaing the school of music during Safavid Period. In fact they completed in some way the style of Timurids traditional school of music, that was disseminated by some great theoricians, including Abdolghader Maraghehee. At the beginning of eleventh century, Mir Sadraddin Mohammad Ghazvini, one of the greatest calligraphers and theoritcians in the field of music, complied a thesis in music which is the most important Iranian musicological works after the works of the school of Montazamiah. Subsequently, other theoritcians, including Baghia Naeeni, Agha Momen Mossannef, and Amir khan Gorji, compiled valuable and attractive works in the field of music.

Compiled music works in this period, Confirms that there was closed relations between Safavid and Ottoman Courts. Many musical modes and forms that was performed in Iran, was played in Ottoman Court, too. Generally, We can see the common "re'pertoire" among those two cultural centres at that period. The basis of the school of music in Isfahan, have registered among the other works of music at that period, both theoretically and scientifically, and reviewing and analyzing these works may led to show a complete aspect of Isfahan musical culture in eleventh and twelfth centuries.
